Then came Van 102. One van became two, and two became the fleet that serves Northeast Florida today.
OUR STORY
The name came first. Back in middle school shop class, Kyler made his dad a coffee mug that said “Voltz Electric,” a play on our last name. Years later, in 2017, Tim founded Voltz Electric and made the name real, with Kyler right beside him and a Ford Econoline we still call Van 101. Our first job was hanging lights for a family friend.
Tim is a U.S. Navy veteran with a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland. He spent years in corporate work with Anheuser-Busch and more than a decade doing residential electrical work before starting Voltz. For the first three years Kyler worked two jobs, serving as a firefighter while building the company on his days off, and he brought that same discipline and safety-first mindset to every job.
From day one, our goal has been simple: give our customers the best experience they've had with a contractor, and build a company our employees are proud to work for. That mom-and-pop start has grown into a team of 60 and a sister company, D.L. Williams Electric, the commercial contractor we acquired in 2020.
It's still a family business. Tim, Kyler's mom Kimberly and Kyler all work at Voltz, Kyler's niece is part of the team at D.L. Williams, and Kyler's three young kids are already being recruited as our youngest future employees.
HOW WE WORK
Ask our customers what they notice most and you'll hear the same two things: we're polite, and we leave it clean. Here's what's behind that.
